Finals V Birthday

It has begun.

The week of no sleep, no makeup, no life, and no cute clothes.

Why must this week fall on my birthday??? By tomorrow, I need to study for my anthropology final (probably the hardest one I'll take since this is the class I missed the most), make a Prezi presentation, watch the movie Lincoln, write a response to it, and write a ten page essay. Then on my birthday I'll have my history final (which is the reason the anthropology final is MAYBE the hardest, because this one will be super tough too) and a geography quiz.

Then I have to fully enjoy my birthday weekend, because apparently I am being kidnapped to somewhere that requires me to pack for the night and bring a bikini (my excitement on hearing this was almost uncontainable. Now to not eat anything until then so I can fit in my bikini and not look like an over-sized whale.)

Then Sunday I have Mass and Legacy! Which means it will be at the earliest 10pm Sunday night when I can resume my finals cramming. I have a US Congress final on Monday and my political relations final and my democracy and development in Latin America finals on Wednesday. I don't have to study much for US Congress because it's open note, but the other two are going to be extreme finals in which my final grade hangs in the balance. The struggle is real.

I'm going to have to break finals week norm, and stay pretty over these next two weeks! Today I'm going birthday shopping with two of my work buddies, Karima and Jessica. It's been postponed long enough, and I can't wait to go shopping!! Even though I spent almost all my money on Lulu, my mommy sent me some money so I have enough to spend, although not as much as I had allotted for myself beforehand. Either way, I have money and a mall and an upcoming birthday that I must look adorable for!!!

Then, I'm going out for dinner with Luis, because I have a Groupon for a steakhouse that expires on Wednesday, so it's my last chance to use it. We're probably going to come back to my dorm and watch Lincoln after that, so I'll get some quality time in and work done. Bonus points for multi-tasking!

Wednesday is the day of the anthropology final, democracy and development paper presentation, and US Congress essay/Lincoln review due date. Plus work afterwards. Yay.

Thursday will be the history final, lunch with Carlin, then kidnapping by Luis.

After my fun birthday weekend, my next big thing will be dinner with Estela and Emily to celebrate all three of our May birthdays! We have two more friends, Jessica and Daena, coming along to celebrate with us too, so I'm excited for that. It's been a while since I've seen some of them, and we haven't hung out as a group in forever. I'm also having lunch with a former work buddy whom I haven't seen in forever next week!

With all these fun plans in place, it's reallyyyyy hard to focus on school and finals and studying and writing essays. I've actually been really good about staying off other distractions like Pinterest and Polyvore (although Blogger obviously fell through the cracks on the "Stay away from distracting websites" part of my weekly plans)

Eh, I'll have all this fun this week, and get all my homework and studying done after lots of stressing. I know I'm not getting any sleep this upcoming week, but I know it'll be worth it!

Just Another Crazy Busy Bee Weekend

What a week!

This past week... I don't even know where to start!

I guess I'll pick up where I left off.

So last Wednesday I wake early and go to class. I sit through a boring anthropology lecture. Then I get a text from my boss boss (like the Operator/Owner boss). He asked me to come in for a photo shoot release.

What? Photo shoot? All he had to say was that there were cameras involved and I would have been there in a jiffy. That's just the type of girl I am. I love pictures!

And I'm feeling pretty special too, because we both have iPhones, so I would have been able to see if he had sent the same text to multiple people in a group message, and it was a private. I felt so special! Although I'm sure he texted more than just me (I later found out 5 of us had the interview), but still, give me my two seconds of glory and ego-raising glee.

But unfortunately, I had class. As much as I love pictures, finals start this week and I could't afford to miss any classes from now on. So I told him the soonest I could get there would be at 12 45 (He texted me at 10 30), and he said okay! Excited again!

So I leave class (please don't ask me what we talked about in class, because all my notebook has written in it is a bunch of pictures of cameras!), and walk straight to my car (Lulu is looking pretty good, pictures eventually!) and drive straight to Chick-Fil-A.

All I have to say is that I'm pretty glad that I dressed up cute in the morning. I pulled this sexy professional look with black leggings, a long white shirt, a black blazer, and these adorable black heels. And of course, the bright red lips. I think my bright red lips can turn any outfit into classy and sexy.

Black leggings and adorable black heels
Long white shirt and black blazer, not mention the cute necklace ;D
Bright red lips :*
I walk in, looking for the cameras, and my Operator calls me over to a table and there's a lady sitting down with a pile of papers and her laptop. He introduces us, jokes around that I speak 7 languages (Um, it's 4, let's not give people high hopes of me. I hate to disappoint), and leaves the two of us together. We make small talk for a little bit. The kind of stuff everyone over 25 asks us under 20 kids. "Where do you go to school? What do you want to do? Blah blah blah" I am a professional at answering those questions, no joke. I have my answer down pat. And of course, the following, "Oh my goodness you're so smart, you're going to go far, etc etc" came, as always. I have a slightly inflated ego when it comes to these kinds of things.

Then, we get to the juicy bit. She finally asks me if I know what I'm doing there, and of course, I have no clue. He said photo shoot, but I don't see any cameras, so at this point I just feel like he knows how to get me to drive 20 minutes from Kennesaw.

Then she tell me the good news. She is a talent scout! Eek! She recruits people to do modeling, take pictures, and do videos! The excitement is overwhelming!

Of course, I'll be in my Chick-fil-A uniform and the pictures are for CFA marketing and instructional videos for all the newbies coming in to teach how to do stuff in the stores. But still! I'll be on camera and people will be taking pictures of me and I'll be on video and hundreds and thousands of little newbie CFA team members will get to see me on their videos! That's publicity right there my dears!

This is only the first step! Next, someone will realize how amazing I am at doing CFA informational videos, and they'll start hiring me for commercials and movies and runways and red carpets and so much more! My future life is flashing before my eyes and I am super excited! And it all started in junior high when I posed for Samoa's 40th anniversary for Girl Scouts. I can feel the tears coming. Michael Kors, here I come!

Not to mention that the pay is really nice too. Almost double of what I'm making now. But I'd do it for less. Just the experience of being a model, regardless for whom, is amazing. I am a beautiful budding talent, waiting to be discovered! Here I come Hollywood!

Then the rest of Wednesday was just a normal day. School and work. Yay.

Then Thursday was an adventure all on it's own.

I woke up super early to head downtown. As a political science major (Yay international relations!) I have to do an observation report almost every semester. That means waking up super early, going to court for several hours, writing down everything that goes down, then writing a ten page essay on it. Whoop-dee-do.

So Thursday morning I drove to downtown to go to immigration court. When I go to look for a parking spot, I realize that I left my credit card with Luis so he could fix Lulu. That is slightly problematic when I am stuck in downtown Atlanta with an almost empty tank and no money. So I look all over my purse and car and pull together $4 and a few cents to pay for parking.

Then I go to court, hold my tears in as I watch the judge be a jerk to a poor immigrant, and issue him to leave the country. Ouch. As a Latina, watching people get deported hurts. I switched court rooms at one point to see another judge too. The second judge was sort of nicer, at least to me. He realized that I wasn't there for a court date and started asking me questions, and he answered a lot of my questions too. I got a ton of notes from talking to him, even though he was obviously one of those self-righteous judge's who thinks America is for Americans, so screw the immigrants. I sure had a hard time not expressing my own feelings on the issue. To me, personally, he was pleasant enough though.

Finding my car was the next big issue. I walked up and down downtown for a good 15 minutes before I remembered where I parked. Then I had to sprint in the opposite direction because my parking meter was about to expire. I managed to get there 2 minutes after my time expired, but the cop was on the other side checking those cars, so I escaped without a ticket. I was fully prepared to cry my way out of a parking ticket though. My tears were on the ready!

Then I went to work, and that was that. At this point I forgot my laptop at work and only got it back Saturday night.

I did, however, go to a bar with Carlin after work Thursday night. That was super fun!

Blurryyy
We have a pair of friends, Haley and Alexis, who are in a band and often perform over at a bar close to my Chick-fil-A. Usually I'm too busy to go to any of their shows, but since that's so close to me, I always try to make those. I got there a little too late to watch them perform, but we had fun rocking to a rock band!

We're too cute!
We then hung out with a crowd who came out to see Haley and Alexis too. Afterwards we went to the only place open in the wee hours of the morning, the true Southern staple, Waffle House!

I ended up at home at 4am (which wasn't a very smart idea considering all the work I had to do on the following days). It was a crash and burn kinda night. I'm surprised I even took the time to remove my makeup!

The rest of the weekend was all work.

Chick-fil-A Ready!!
I worked 2 to close on Thursday, 11:30 am to close on Friday, and here's the real beauty of the weekend: open to close on Saturday! And that was on two nights straight of four hours of sleep. By 8pm Saturday night, I was ready to bite someone's head off. I opened drive thru and closed kitchen, which was actually a lot of fun for me. I have never worked screens before, so it was nice to do something different, and a great change of pace on such a long day.

Then Sunday I slept into 2 30 pm, which was amazing! Luis and I wore matching outfits

Yes, I know we're lame
And we went out for breakfast/dinner at Golden Corral! Then we went to Mass, which was really nice. And since we got out of Mass last night at 9 30, it's been non-stop homework, studying, and essay-writing.

Finals week is officially here, so life is about to get busyyyyyy!

Lazy Day

Yesterday was an interesting change of pace for me.

I spent ALL day in my dorm. I don't remember the last time I had an entire day with nothing to do and no need to leave my room.

So what does super busy bee me do on a rare day off?

Well, I started off by sleeping in until 11 30. That was a lovely refreshment from the constant waking up before my alarm clock went off of this past weekend.

I would love an alarm clock with Belle on it!

Then I just web surfed for a really long time.
I blogged

And pinned

And made outfits on Polyvore

And discovered new wedding blogs

And Facebooked

And Twittered

Then I decided to brave Hulu again (I really really really dislike Hulu. It's so slow compared to Netflix, and I need to watch dumb ads.) to watch the newest season of Once Upon A Time... I really like the show, or else I would never waste 6 hours trying to watch three 45 minute episodes.

And since Hulu takes forever to load, I decided to tackle my room during loading periods. So now my room is super clean!

I made my bed

I put my shoes up

And I organized my closet

And I vacuumed

That's my empty laundry bag in the upper left. Talk about productive!

And I even updated my calender!

Then after tackling my room, I decided to tackle myself. I took a super long and delicious shower. You know those that you just stand there and let the water wash you away? If my dorm bathroom had a bathtub, it would have been a bath salt/bubble bath kind of day. But unfortunately, it's just a shower, no bubble bath capabilities. And after that long, lovely HOT sauna like shower, I straightened my hair. Mind you, my hair take an hour minimum to straighten. I spent a good two hours on it yesterday (while still attempting to watch Once Upon A Time as it slowly buffered)

This picture was taken today. Part of the lazy day included staying in my PJs all day long
Then I decided to paint my nails.

And I web-surfed some more.

And I started playing a new Wii Game that I bought a few weeks back.

Finally, Luis calls at 10PM (At night! It took all day!!!) and he's waiting outside with my car! I haven't seen Lulu yet, but he said that both bumper and mirror are looking better, which is good. I'll put up some pictures of her later, once I see her. She sure did take a good chunk of my bank account. Actually, she took up everything I had saved up for my birthday, with the exception of $14... The struggle is real here folks.

Anyways, now I have a clean room to enjoy, lots of new pins and wedding knowledge, my hair looks fabulous, and my nails look decent, not to mention I've caught up some more on sleep and Once Upon A Time.

Now my life can go back on it's crazy track.

Damsel in Distress

This weekend has been absolutely insane!

And yes, I know that it's already Tuesday.

I don't even know where to start.

Probably Friday morning when I got woken up 9am with my boss calling me. So I wake up at nine, answer her questions, then I can't go back to sleep. So of course, I start net surfing (which consisted of lots of blogging, Polyvore, and Pinterest) until 10 30. Then I get ready to go to my 11 45-close shift. At 11 30, as I'm about to pull into the store, another manager calls me, says we're super slow, and asks me not to come in until 2. So I turn around, spend more time surfing, then head back to work. From there on, it was a normal work day. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but since it happened on disaster weekend, I'll include it.

Then Saturday morning, I wasn't supposed to get in until 2, but a third manager calls me (again at 9am) and asks me to come in early because we're dying. So of course, great little busy bee can't say no me goes in at 9am... until close. Still not a bad day, just long, and I've worked longer shifts many many times. Now, I had plans to see Luis after I got off work. We were meeting at Kennesaw after I got off work, but that was a LOT later than I thought it was going to be. I got of work at around 11 30, then I volunteered to take this kid home, who happens to live 45 minutes away from work, and another 30 minutes away from where I live. Great. It was a nice ride though. I got to learn a little about my team member and he got to know a little bit about me and that's pretty much what building relationships is about, right? But then of course, Luis was upset, but he got over it soon and everything went back to normal.

Then Sunday... Oh boy Sunday. First, I had a meeting at noon, but it got cancelled because the other person overslept and we rescheduled for this upcoming Sunday. Then Luis and I took my car to get washed (oh yea, I forgot to mention that I spilled milkshake and sweet tea all over my car Saturday night after I dropped the kid off) which cost more money than I was willing to spend, but those carpets needed to get shampooed and I sure wasn't about to do it. Then we went out to eat, went to church, all that fun Sunday stuff.

Then the real disaster starts. At 11pm, as I'm driving home from church, some idiot decides that he's not going to check incoming traffic before making a right turn. He pulls right in front of me, and I was too close and going too fast to brake and avoid the accident. So I swerve to avoid hitting this guy's car and driving him off the road into the ditch, and I end up in the ditch instead. And now my poor baby girl Lulu is hurt ):

I got her all cleaned up and pretty, just to get her all dented up and muddy.

No more driver side rear view mirror

No more front bumper

All these cracks

And dents

And I even busted up her inside too

My poor Lulu ):

And her radiator got busted from the bottom, so I can't even drive her until she gets fixed. Luckily, Luis has a mechanic friend who's fixing her up for me (at least the radiator and maybe the mirror). So she'll be drive-able again by tonight, hopefully. Yesterday I went around and talked to a couple of different mechanics at Firestone and some other mechanic places, but the quotes I got were between $300 and $900, and I work fast food, I don't have that kind of money!

And my Monday was probably the worst, just because of all the stress I was under. I didn't go to any of my classes because I ended up spending the night at Luis's, because that's where the car was closest to and I wasn't about to drive 40 minutes to Kennesaw without a mirror (this was before I knew the radiator was busted). Plus, I had a ridiculously painful headache and was a little disorientated from the accident. So Monday morning, Luis and his mom are playing mechanic with my car, looking at everything that got damaged. Finally, they notice that the radiator is empty and there's lots of green liquid under my car. So they go ahead and fill the radiator up with water, and it takes all of 5 minutes for the water to end up on the floor. Which is a good thing that they played with it first, cause I was totally about to drive the car without the mirror.

Luis has to go to school, and I have to go to work and talk to mechanics. So he drops me off at work, which is conveniently located next to a mechanic. I walk on over to talk to my lovely Firestone mechanics, and the price range is WAY above what I can afford, even with the birthday splurging money I had set aside. So I go back to Chick-fil-A and chill in the office until Luis comes back from school. Then he picks me up, takes me to Kennesaw to pick up my uniform (and apply makeup, because up until this point, I looked like Medusa), then we turn right back around to go back so I can work.

I stay at CFA working and he goes back to his place to call the tow truck to take the car to Sam's house. Now, I only had a short 4 hour shift until 8. Sam got out of work at 6. So at 6 30ish, Luis calls the tow truck and they tell him that they'll be there at 7 30. I get off of work at 8, call Luis to come pick me up, but he can't because the tow truck STILL isn't there. The tow truck is TWO WHOLE HOURS LATE!!! I sat in the office for two hours doing nothing, being absolutely bored out of my mind, waiting for the tow truck to show up and Luis come pick me up. I am super frustrated at this point, because I wanted Lulu repaired yesterday, so I could go on my birthday shopping trip today, but apparently no one is working under my schedule! The frustration was overwhelming and I got very very snappy.

Finally, Luis picks me up and takes me to Sam's house. It was 10pm and cold and I had a headache and was way past my snappy point, but of course I put on a smile and was very cordial. Of course, the guy can't fix my car that night. Especially since it was 10 and all the auto repair parts stores close at 9. So Sam told me to buy a new radiator and antifreeze to put in it. Then, he tells me even more bad news. Apparently the part of the car that controls the air conditioning got broken too, but he's not 100 per cent sure if it's broken broken. So tonight when he comes home from work, he's going to fix the radiator, turn on the car, try out the AC, and let me know if that needs fixing too. We are a month away from summer and my air conditioning is busted. Could this get any worse??

Of course it can. The bumper is also hanging off, so I need to take the car to a car body shop and the whole bumper replaced, and I'm sure that's not cheap. So I'll be driving around with a ratchet car with a broken bumper for a while, cause "ain't nobody got money for that." My life.

And to make matters worse, my shopping trip today got cancelled, because the friend I was going with doesn't have a car and I was the ride... But obviously that didn't pan through. We're rescheduling for next Tuesday, so hopefully everything works out for then.

And now, I will sit in my bed, web-surfing for the rest of the day because all my plans have been cancelled (and I had quite a few plans too D:). No more shopping, no more mani-pedi, no more lunch with friends, no more Scrappy the Owl, no more anything. Just loneliness and my laptops.

And yes, I am being a drama queen right now. I'm a damsel in distress, what else am I supposed to do??

Business Major Wardrobe Problems

The biggest wardrobe problem with being a business major is... Too many cute clothes to pick from!!!

I have a friend who teases me by saying that the only reason I'm a business/law major is because I like wearing professional clothes. She's partially right. I couldn't do a job where I can't wear cute clothes. So no uniforms for me!

Anyways, of course my obsession with adorable professional outfits just leads to Pinterest boards dedicated to my office wear and my classy outfits. Along with a TON of Polyvore fun. (Yes, this is another Polyvore post) So here are some of the business outfits I've created recently (If only I had the money to buy them...)

I am so obsessing over this outfit. It's perfect. If I could, I would wear it to work EVERY day! That is, if I worked in an office already, and could wear cute clothes instead of my icky, black, shapeless uniform. And I wouldn't really wear anything everyday. I don't even repeat the same outfit in the same month. It's probably an every other month kinda thing for me actually. I like to stay original with my outfits. But I could totally do like 10 different colors of this exact same outfit, the top/skirt/belt ensemble anyways. And just to point out my too-expensive taste, here's a fun fact. Those bow earrings are Kate Spade and they cost $50. What? $50 for a pair of studs??? I think $10 for a set of 6 is a lot! I need to start making more money very soon to keep up with this expensive taste of mine!

And of course, after complaining about expensive stuff, I pick out another pair of Louboutins. My wardrobe struggle is real guys, talk about first world problems. I think the cheapest thing on this outfit is the hair pins, and those are $12.50 I think. On the other hand, I'm totally liking the fact that I was able to find hair pins, studs, necklace, AND bracelet with the little flower mold! I wasn't exactly digging the bracelet, but it just went so well with the theme of the outfit, I couldn't help myself. Too cute.

Speaking of struggles, I went through a good 50 pages worth of blazers trying to find one that matched those pants. I got tired of looking, realized that this was a battle that I was going to lose, and went with navy instead. Oh well, you can't win them all. Although I just noticed that I picked the same pair of shoes for this outfit as I did for the first one... I almost went back to change the shoes, but then I remembered that I also had to try on a lot of shoes for this one too. I almost, ALMOST, picked a pair of flats, but they didn't look good on the picture, so too bad for them. Heels win again. Putting this outfit together was a true struggle for me, but it came out looking great! (Can you tell I like the navy look yet?) I'm also really proud of myself for putting together an outfit with pants instead of a skirt. I need something for the cold seasons too!

Here's one for the spring! I'm not 100 per cent sold on wearing this to the office, just because the blouse is slightly too informal, but I think I could, maybe, pull it off as office wear. Anyways, I picked out two different pairs of shoes for the two possibilities. The cute floral wedges for the day out of the office without the jacket, and the pumps to wear when I gotta go to the office and I'll throw on the jacket for that finished down-to-business look.

And for my final look today

Yes, I did navy again. I was really trying to find something not navy, but then this Michael Kors dress just screamed at me and I had to pick it. I would probably never dare to put a jacket over this dress, so the blazer is there just cause I always pick a jacket, just in case it gets too chilly to handle. This one and the first one are my favorites. It's just so clean and sophisticated and classy, I can't contain my excitement for this outfit. If only it were mine...

I could spend all day long making outfits on Polyvore! Especially cute business-y ones. I'm going to be the most fashionable gal out in the professional world!
